Okay, stay calm.

Stab! Slice!

“Leave one or two alive.”

“Yes, Your Majesty!”

“Though I want to kill them all . . .”

Mmnf.

Strange noises came from the other side of my butt, but I tried my best to ignore them and slowly lifted my upper body to quietly regain an upright position.

My eyes met Glenn Masiar’s, who was staring at me. He had a peculiar expression on his face, as though he had been looking at me the whole time.

Why? Did something happen?

As I tilted my head since I didn’t know what was going on, Glenn’s eyes wavered. He opened and closed his mouth a few times, finally clamping it shut when Adrian began hooting with laughter. Glenn’s dagger still moved to stick itself in an assassin’s neck even while his eyes were fixed on mine.

“Keep your eyes on the enemy, Glenn.” I walked up to him out of the pure hope that he wouldn’t be disturbed any more. “Look at all this splattered blood! Who are these bastards that attacked us?”

Glenn winced, and his beautiful blood-red eyes began to roll from side to side.

Oh, right. He thinks the dark wizards are sniffing around the Armans because of him! I hadn’t meant to make him feel like this was his fault.

“Don’t be nervous. That wasn’t for you to hear.” I quickly erased everything I had done a moment ago from my mind as I focused on comforting Glenn.

He looks more depressed than before, though. And he’s stimulating my protective instincts even more with that face!

But I shouldn’t be fooled—he’s freaking twenty years old.

“I-I’m sorry, sister . . .”

“Aw, that’s not what I meant, I said! Oh, look! There’s another one.”

“How! Dare you! Approach my sister!”

He was a magnificent guard.

As I stayed by Glenn to ensure the bare minimum of safety, I took several deep breaths. Certain words kept cascading through my mind.

“Someone who doesn’t care about what others think about her and runs down the street covered in flowers . . . ? Or covered in wine is fine, too.”

“Someone whose derriere is often higher than her head.”

“Oh, there’s something else.”

“Someone who will end a part of another person’s life if she gets physically hit.”

Those things didn’t sound unfamiliar.

My earlier embarrassment slowly faded away, with excitement creeping in its place.

“I might be able to do it.”

Now that I thought about it, those things he said could have been about me. Even though I did those actions so I could get dumped. Also that wasn’t the real me, so facing him as my true self might pose a problem.

No, wait . . .

What if . . . What if he likes me?

I glanced at Emperor Charlemagne.

The blade of his sword was pitch black, and it contrasted beautifully with his silver hair and pale skin. Blood spurted like fountains around him.

There had been countless assassins, but the number seemed to be rapidly decreasing in the end.

He didn’t have that black sword in the cursed book. Oh yeah, he said he left it in the real world. That’s why he used a different one back then.
